Weak Airflow
If your Jeep’s AC has weak airflow, you could be dealing with a clogged cabin air filter. The air filter allows air into the cabin while filtering dirt, dust, and debris. If the filter is clogged, it may block the intake vent and restrict airflow to the cabin. Your dealer’s technicians can clean the filter or replace it if it’s worn.
A faulty blower motor can also cause the AC to have weak airflow. The motor controls the fan that pushes air into the cabin. If the motor is faulty, it will prevent the fan from pushing enough air through the vents. Get the blower motor inspected and repaired to restore proper airflow into the cabin.
AC Blowing Warm Air
Your AC will blow warm air into the cabin if it has a refrigerant leak. The refrigerant is the fluid that removes heat from the air in the car and dissipates it outside. If the refrigerant lines are damaged, the fluid will leak.
With inadequate refrigerant to absorb heat from the air, the AC will be unable to cool down the air. Low refrigerant can cause the compressor to overwork and overheat. So don’t run your air conditioner if it’s blowing warm air. Visit your dealer to get the refrigerant lines repaired and the AC recharged.
AC Turns On and Off Randomly
Does your AC turn on and off at random intervals? This is known as short cycling, and it happens when there is low refrigerant or a faulty compressor. When the refrigerant is low, the compressor is forced to work harder to pressurize the refrigerant. After a while, the compressor starts to overheat.
When overheating occurs, the AC turns on and off randomly without completing a cooling cycle. You should recharge the air conditioner and check the compressor for damage. If you have a damaged compressor, your dealer can order and install an OEM one for you.
AC Not Turning On
If your AC doesn’t come on when you press the air button, you could be dealing with a dead compressor. The compressor can experience mechanical wear due to lack of lubrication or overheating, causing it to fail. In this case, you may need to install a new one.
Electrical issues like a blown fuse, bad AC relay, or faulty sensor can also prevent the component from activating when you press the button. Whatever the problem is, your dealer has the expertise, tools, and parts to restore your air conditioner’s operation.
If you notice any of these issues, your air conditioner requires professional attention. Visit Team One CDJR of Gadsden, so our technicians can properly diagnose and repair your Jeep’s AC.
